About Me
My name is Stan Hinesley and I am a musician. Guitar is my life. I began playing guitar
and singing lead and backup vocals at age thirteen, and a few
years later I switched to bass. By the time I turned fifteen, I was performing
pretty regularly around town in Albany Georgia. In 1976, I started playing and
singing six-nighters with a
local oldies/ disco/ jazz/ top-40/ Country show band called Encore, and in 1980 I
hit the southeast club circuit with 60's bubblegum band The Ohio Express (Yummy, Yummy).
During the eighties, I played bass and sang with Angel's Flight...a rock/new wave band out of Central Florida and had the pleasure to work with John Cook from the Indiana/Orlando/Winter Park area, one of the finest guitarists I've ever heard. John if you're out there, I'd love to hear from you... During the nineties I played bass guitar, rhythm guitar and sang lead vocals around the Macon area in a country trio called Derringer.
After moving to SoFla I held down the bottom in a local (Palm Beach/Broward County, FL) country band called Southern Cause for awhile. Now I'm doing a Rock/Classic Rock/Pop Rock cover band gig with some guys that I got together. We go by Spare Parts (MySpace) and (FaceBook). Just a weekend thing. All I have time for anymore...unfortunately.
Yes- I've played guitar and
bass all of my life. There have been plenty of ups and downs but I
wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. I'm NOT just another one of those
"electronics guys" that has never picked up an instrument. Everything that I
build has been road tested by me in real-world settings before real
audiences...BEFORE being offered to customers.
I have done guitar and amp work since I first started playing. In the early
nineties I attended Middle Georgia Tech in Macon Georgia to study electronics.
In 1997 I started TGS Technologies in Macon doing guitar maintenance/setups and
electronics mods.
I relocated to South Florida in 1998 and started HAS Sound selling my own
electronics upgrades and custom guitar circuits via the world-wide web and
shipping all over the world. What did we do before the internet?!?
I started offering my own line handwound Stan Hinesley Pickups to discriminating guitarists in 2004 with rave reviews (see links below) and the rest is history.
About My Pickups
Stan Hinesley Hand Crafted Pickups are hand wound and hand
assembled from the finest parts and materials one at a time by me personally
right here in my shop. All of my coils are scatterwound because it adds a
dynamic that cannot be duplicated with machine winding by the thousands. I wind
each one like it is for me.
All pickup coils are wax saturated (potted) to minimize microphonics and
unwanted mechanical feedback. My single coil bobbin/magnet assemblies are glued
and lacquered before winding. This minimizes the chances of bobbin warpage and
corrosion or internal shorts of the coil wire against the magnet pole pieces.
My pickups are available individually or in calibrated sets.
Proudly Made in the USA and shipped World Wide!
I accept credit cards, e-checks and bank
transfers safely and securely through
PayPal. I also accept orders by mail.
I personally wind and assemble each pickup by hand and try to get the
orders out as quickly as possible but depending on my current workload, it
could take some time. Please allow
at least 4-6 week ship time on all pickup orders.
